Balmain
creative director Olivier Rousteing
has announced the brand will be returning to designing couture collection and so, therefore, we can expect to see what's in store during Paris Couture week in January next year. This will be the first time Balmain has produced a couture collection since 2002, back when Oscar de la Renta designed the couture line.
One would wonder why the French-based brand has made that decision as 80 percent of its sales revenue comes from ready-to-wear. And also, it is peculiar with luxury brands whose majority of their wealth made for their fashion houses mostly comes from cosmetics, fragrances, and accessories. This looks like a very good challenge for Olivier Rousteing as he looks forward to succeeding in the couture world as he's done with the brand's ready-to-wear collection.
