ROUGH ONLINE: Tell us a bit about your brand and how you started it?
GAYEON LEE: I started my brand in 2015 after graduating from St Martins, MA. I went to New York to work for Marc Jacobs, until I felt I was ready to start my own label. This is my second on-schedule season at LFW, with so many admirable people attending and positive reactions.ROUGH ONLINE: Do you remember your first catwalk show how were you feeling?
GAYEON LEE: I was very pleased with the feedback – Presentations give me the opportunity to show the whole look and reflect an entire image not only showing the clothing but allowing people to see more of my full vision, including accessories. I have been overwhelmed with the immediate response.
ROUGH ONLINE: What are your references for the upcoming collection?
GAYEON LEE: French painter Boncompain, influenced the colours and prints, as you will see on the Fiona dress and my invitations this season. The collection is artistically inspired by his exquisite feel for colour.
ROUGH ONLINE: Has anything changed for you ever since you started the brand personally and professionally?
GAYEON LEE: A combination of personal and professional experiences have made me stronger. After learning the reality of the difficulties that you face as a designer, I have more accurate expectations in all aspects of life.
ROUGH ONLINE: What's your best-selling piece?
GAYEON LEE: Asymmetric styled tops & trousers. These cuts attract people with their unique structure.
ROUGH ONLINE: How do you want people to feel when they wear your clothes?
GAYEON LEE: The clothes give off a feminine, sophisticated feel alone, but as a womenswear designer, I hope that women feel special and most importantly happy when wearing pieces of my collections.
