The Indie Pop trio originally broke out onto the music scene in 2011 with their critically acclaimed debut album
“In Light,”
and although we haven’t heard from the energetic rock band in a while
,
Givers
have most certainly not lost their experimental, playful energy that gained them recognition in the first place, on their new song
“Love Is Like A Fire,” where they blatantly want to invite all listeners of the Funky, Pop-Rock track to a Roller Disco from the second its’ bright and shiny rhythm guitars, similarly produced in the same way Haim’s riffs were on their 2014 single “If I Could Change Your Mind,” kick in on top of that Dancy, live drum beat that gets us moving instantly. The catchy “huh, huh, huh” adlibs, reminiscent of Anthony Kiedis singing in his higher register on the Red Hot Chilli Peppers classic, written for Bevis and Butthead “Love Rollercoaster,” sung over a spooky, space-like synth in Fire’s introduction grabs your attention, just before lead singer Tiffany Lamson’s vocals steal the show with her smooth, “Debbie Harry meets Carly Rae Jepson”-tone.
When Tiffany reaches her higher register in the chorus, her Miley Cyrus-esque husky vocal persona gives “Fire” the uplifting, party energy we were craving from the second the Disco rhythm dropped and Taylor Guarisco strummed his electric guitar, effected with bright reverb, an overall superb music production which throws us back to the 1-on-1 dance scene, between Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, from the 1984 classic, adventure movie “Romancing The Stone.” Givers blatantly want their audience to join them in this uplifting, celebration of love, with a smile on their faces stretched from ear to ear, and believe ROUGH when we say that “Love Is Like A Fire,” is bound to become an Indie summer hit, while everyone is enjoying the UK heatwave out there right now. If KT Tunstall ever decided to form a Funky, Disco band, it would probably sound a little something like this. Look out for Givers’ forthcoming new E.P “Movin’ On” coming soon.
