Vuyo, a talented urban music producer and rapper, is back with another new track entitled “Window,”
inspired by the class system, specifically referring to social issues lyrically, such as Racism. The Zimbabwean-born Hip-Hop artist is obviously not adhering to current mainstream music production, and ROUGH ONLINE respect and applaud his ole-skool, street urban vibe which throws us back to the sound of The Fugees when they became huge in 1996 with their critically acclaimed album “The Score.”
Beginning with a reverse sample of a beat, “Window” takes you on a vintage-style journey, via the use of a filtered-sounding guitar riff, and Vuyo’s roughly distinctive rap vocal that contains a slight anger and a preachy, empowered tone, leading up to the chorus which unexpectedly features a female vocalist, with a similar, husky tone to Macy Gray, yet a sultry, smooth Martina-Topley Bird style voice, as she sings the lyrics “I watch the world pass by my window” as if she has smoked way too many cigars, and Rough Online are in love with her unique vocal performance. Overall, Vuyo keeps the production of “Window,” very simple, effectively ensuring that the listener pays 100% attention to the politically-themed, poetic lyrics of his new single, making it his best track to date and we highly recommend you download and stream it now. Since listening to both “Window” and his previous single “Vuyo’s Woman,” we are very curious as to what his debut E.P “Home Cooked Meals” will musically deliver overall, dropping on August 17th, so keep an eye out for his first-ever release, which Rough Online anticipate will receive positive reviews from all urban and indie music critics.
