We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again...if ROUGH ONLINE had an official Top 10 best tracks of 2018…you would definitely find SX’s “Designed / Desire” somewhere near the highest chart entry. There are way too many complements to offer what Rough has labelled as “one of the best pieces of Electro music” we’ve listened to since the start of the magazine, and we are so happy to have discovered this fresh, new Alternative Dance act, consisting of vocalist Stefanie Callebaut and keyboard man Benjamin Desmet. Literally from the very first second the beat and industrial-esque bass line drops, you will find yourself being thrown back to the Violator era of Depeche Mode’s career, and Callebaut’s masculine, lower-register tone, slightly reminiscent of Ellie Goulding at times, opens the songs with the utmost darkness in which you will without a doubt be way too excited to hear the chorus and when you come to face-to-face with Desire’s main hook it will be 100% worth the wait.

The chorus sections of Desire could easily be heard as a 21st century spin and Dance version of Kylie Minogue’s 1994 Indie Pop hit single “Confide In Me,” especially when Stefanie hits them high notes in a similar vein to ex-Sneaker Pimps lead singer Kelli Ali. Its’ simple yet effective chorus melody will become infectious instantly, so much that you will for sure have SX’s new single on repeat for the following week, the same way ROUGH ONLINE has. And if them filtered, Tribal Drums in the first verse and synths that throw us back to Man With No Name’s masterful work on his 1998 album “Earth Moving The Sun,” an overall Goa Trance-influenced production, wasn’t enough to send shivers down your spine and prep you nicely for this weekend’s House rave, then check out Desire’s trippy, official music video.
