Norweigen pop newcomer Trevis
has released feel-good single “Way You Do It,”
and it is one to definitely to get everyone in that summer mood as we approach its hottest period. The Tropical House-oriented track is the heat wave you need to get ready for the Saturday nights of August with its Latin-influenced instrumentation consisting of undertone acoustic guitars combined with clean electric riffs that are rhythmically reminiscent of Nile Rogers’ sublime performance on the critically acclaimed Pharell Williams and Daft Punk 2013 hit collaboration “Get Lucky.” The bass line is nicely filtered down in verse 1, then released with full impact in the chorus section, predictably decreasing its’ energy with the use of EQ during the outro into verse 2, giving it a traditional old skool club vibe, throwing us back to the same musical format used in Ibiza classics like Pete Heller’s 1999 hit single “Big Love.”
Vocally in the vein of rapper Drake when he takes on a more singing-oriented voice, Trevis delivers a smooth performance with the support of backing harmonies containing bright reverb which adds to the summer vibe nicely, and when reaching his higher register becomes very similar to the vocal talents of Justin Bieber. Unpredictably, tribal drums are then introduced in the middle 8 section, which are carried through to the track’s gorgeous final chorus, which rhythmically increases its’ overall dance sound. But it is of course the official music video which brings about the feel-good visual you need to complete the full package of “holiday bliss,” as it captures Trevis and his crew having the time of their lives in a destination very similar looking to the Balearics, partying by the pool, while the singer captures a young George Michael during his Wham days perfectly, especially in the posey “sunglasses” scenes. If you really want to get ready for the best era of this year’s summer season, stream Trevis’s “Way You Do It” now.
