The Bongo Club
have blown ROUGH ONLINE away with their energetic new track “What You Want Us To Be,”
along with its’ official music video, which quite frankly makes you want to go and see these guys on tour. Having already charted in Germany and Austria, their newest effort is bound to gain even more success, due to the thunder, space-like synth and overdrive, backing rhythm guitars in its’ intro section already sending you into the realm of The Killers’ 2006 hit single “When You Were Young,” which gives it the gritty Rock edge it needs to not solely stay within the Electro world. Along with Jesper’s unique vocals, performed slightly in the vein of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s Peter Hayes, and the kick drum played in double-time to the 4 by 4 beat tempo, an overall dark vibe is perfectly delivered, until the music is unexpectedly broken down in the verses, via the use of the snare keeping tempo while the kick is only played on the first two beats of each bar, with very little use of synths and one-strum, closed guitar chords, a standard, traditional Indie Rock instrumentation method and format which reminds you of early Libertines.
A delay effect, with some distortion is added the lead vocal section nicely, giving the chorus enormous energy, enough to make you gloriously head bang to, while you listen to Jesper’s catchy melody singing the powerful lyrics “fuck knows if we’ll ever be close to what you want us to be,” honest words that anyone who is going through the frustrating, bitter end of a relationship will easily relate to. And let’s not forget to mention the official music video which visually justifies the musical energy of the band, and fully represents how ROUGH ONLINE would react if they ever saw The Bongo Club perform. It is a black and white montage of behind the scenes footage as well as excellent long shot camera angles of the band on stage performing in front of epic, blazing bright lights, to their hardcore fans who quite obviously love them, and these exciting moments on camera are captured and edited masterfully. ROUGH ONLINE highly recommend that you check out “What You Want Us To Be,” and its’ official music video and we guarantee that you will be body banging around the livingroom instantly, as well as feeling nostalgic because of their very much missed, throwback Indie sound. We look forward to hearing more from The Bongo Club in the very near future.
