ROUGH ONLINE CHATS WITH VACANCES ABOUT THEIR NEW SINGLE NEW SINGLE ''KIDS''

ROUGH ONLINE interviewed Danny Lannon from duo Vacances earlier this year upon release of the single “Hearts.” Since our little chat, Vacances have been very busy, preparing to release this E.P “Strangers” out this October, as well as writing to release a follow-up in 2019, so Rough thought we’d have a catch up with Danny, especially since their new track “Kids” drops today. Danny kicked things off by telling us about the story behind making this new Friday banger, as well as their upcoming E.P:

“Alex and I had been working on music in his Brooklyn studio and went to a bar after a long session. We decided that it would be fun to take off somewhere and record. It would get us out of our elements and allow us to write in a way neither of us had ever done before, so we took off to Southern Spain to write what would become Kids and the Strangers E.P.”

Talking about their studio set-up in Spain, Danny told ROUGH: “A friend of ours had a ranch house outside of a small village called Jimena De La Fontera and we set up shop there. We used a Bluetooth speaker as our only monitor, a small midi controller, and a vintage Fender guitar and would write just about every day.”

Whilst reflecting on the making of Vacances’ music, Danny says “I’m really proud of what we accomplished out there. I took some time and collected myself back in L.A but as we get closer to the release of the full E.P (out October 26th) and today’s release of “Kids” I find myself in Mexico City getting ready to write the next chapter. I think I’ll write like this always. The self-discovery and reflection that comes with writing and travelling can’t be matched.”
