ROMES Share Lyric Video For Indie-Pop Anthem 'Summer Sound' 

In comparison to the 4-piece Canadian-Irish boy band’s previous singles, like the bittersweet Electro, R&B-influenced ballad “Tryna Be,” Romes’ new 4th single “Summer Sound,” from last year’s self-titled album, is a song with only two intentions…to make you smile and to make you dance. It is no wonder that with Summer Sound’s uplifting, simple major chord structure performed on an unusual vocal-esque synth, lead singer Jacob Alexander’s radio-friendly pop voice who delivers spot-on harmonies, and a great 80’s-influenced pop-rock beat played by drummer Nicolas Amadeus, that you are thrown back to classic 80’s Rom-Coms’ like the hilarious 1987 Blockbuster smash “Mannequin.”

Rough Online’s favourite moment of “Summer Sound” is the beautifully captivating bridge section with glittery keyboard sounds in the background leading up to the chorus, solely because of Jacob’s stunning, breathy vocals singing “cause I can lift the world up without you now, cause I’m up with the sun and I won’t come down,” a message of freedom and empowerment which leaves you wondering if “Summer Sound” was in fact possibly inspired by an ex, delivered in a slightly, undertone confessional fashion in the vein of Taylor Swift, despite the song’s overall potential of being a 2018 Indie, Summer Pop hit about celebration. Nevertheless, Romes’ new single still delivers a strong, memorable chorus with slick rhythm guitars performed by band member James Tebbitt, which moves away from its’ suggestive, deep lyrics, a hook that you cannot avoid dancing to as Jacob sings “I hear the summer sound” in his sweet tone. And just to ensure that their audience don’t stop dancing until the music comes to an official close, an industrial-esque breakdown section on the drums builds up to Summer Sound’s finale nicely. Romes have for sure added themselves to the new wave of 80’s influenced, Electro boy bands, like Club Drive, by releasing a great Pop song which Rough Online highly recommend you listen to.
