Roe
insightfully steps into the shoes of your typical arrogant, judgmental school bully on her strangely, comedic and catchy new single “Hey Thomas,”
which ROUGH ONLINE have fallen in love with due to its’ classic Funk meets Disco-esque music production, reminiscent of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream and Prism eras of famous Pop songs like “TGIF”
and “Birthday.”
Without a doubt you will be hooked by Roe’s “talky”
vocal from the moment that slick, funky electric guitar kicks in, as she sings about how she will torment Thomas for being an unconventional school kid with no traditional traits, in her quirky, sassy style. The finger-click snare will have you moving even before the thick, full set of drums drop in adding to its’ radio-friendly Electro Pop vibe, and the infectious “Hey Thomas”
lyric at the beginning of each verse will have you singing along from the get-go.
Vocally, Roe could easily be comparable to Alternative Rock singers such as Hayley Williams from Paramore and throwback Christian Rock singer Kystal Meyers, because of the similar style in phrasing, and that cross between male and female toned vocal that became famous on Pop radio through Katy Perry. The music of “Hey Thomas” has most definitely been produced in the vein of hit maker Max Martin, who we all know for creating that funky Pop-Rock sound we adore, with tight instrumentation and a chorus full of slightly distorted space-like synths. Roe is quite simply inviting you into her eccentric musical world of opinions about bullies making fun of the introvert in a lyrical Meangirls-style concept which Rough Online highly recommend you check out. She is quite obviously a guitar rebel who we are sure will have even more to say regarding social issues on her next upcoming releases that we anticipate will be just as fun to listen to as “Hey Thomas.”
