LA Rock Siren Diamante Releases 'Volume II' EP

Diamante is relentless and powerful on her new E.P “Volume 2,” as she brings catchy, fun, angst-ridden rock to the forefront, with a bitterness that will take you back to early-Paramore. Vocally distinctive as she moves from soft to aggressive tones, delivered on tracks like “Kind of Love,” with a chorus that could fill a stadium while the lead guitar uses that classic delay and reverb effect, a great piece of music production in the vein of throwback Nu-Metal songs such as P.O.D’s “Youth of the Nation,” Diamante has assured everyone that she has entered the building, and will not leave until everyone has heard her roar. Like rock singers Bif Naked and Amy Lee, Diamante delivers slick vocal performances you won’t forget, such as on “Crazy On You,” while we get down to that overdrive guitar riff which is so catchy that it makes us head bang the way we did when we heard Hole’s “Celebrity Skin” for the first time, and gutsy lyrics on “Bite Your Tongue” where she sings “my name is on your tongue and boy I bet it tastes like venum.”

ROUGH’s personal favourite has got to be “Black Heart,” with its’ rich, solid sound and memorable, emotional vocal performance, which will ensure at least a thousand repeats within the next month, while we get teary eyed listening to “I’m Sorry” because of that touching harpsichord melody, reminiscent of Lacuna Coil production, and let’s not forget the visually sexual music video for “Coming In Hot,” which clearly demonstrates what Bonnie McKee would look like if she ever decided to release a metal track, whilst Diamante also takes some colourful style tips from rock band Sumo Cyco’s Sever AKA Skye Sweetnam.

With the likes of L.A’s Diamante and U.K bands like Brighton’s Yonaka, ROUGH are anticipating a wave of female-fronted rock bands to hit the indie scene big time this year, taking over the world with their presence, and bringing Strong Women in Rock N’ Roll back again. We will definitely be seeing more of this talented rock chick in the future and we can’t wait.
