The Japanese band, who are famous for disguising their faces with wolf masks are back with a brand new 5th studio album entitled “Chasing The Horizon,” and by listening to new singles like “2045” you know that Man With A Mission’s new body of work will consist of their notable Nu-Metal sound at its finest, and could possibly be there best release since they broke out onto the music scene back into 2011. The lyrical Sci-Fi concept of “2045” where the 5-piece band predict a future when human kind has been wiped out is also evidenced in the official music video. Beginning with the “wolves” uploading footage of one of their festival performances in a computer lab from 2018, it soon moves forward to the year 2045 where people who have been wrapped and tied up in white silk inside glass pods similar to those seen in Ridley Scott’s 1979 Horror classic Alien, like mummies from ancient Egypt, are breaking free whilst the Man With A Mission festival footage is aired on TVs within what appears to be some sort of space shuttle. It is a visual that throws us back to Lady Gaga’s iconic 2009 music video for “Bad Romance,” and for all the right reasons. Soon enough, the humans who have broken free of the glass pods head bang and dance frantically in the same way Man With A Mission’s festival audience have done previously.

Despite the band’s loud Nu-Metal sound, you are thrown back to the British, Indie vocal tone of Kasabian’s Tom Meighan, specifically their 2004 single “Club Foot” when Man With A Mission’s Jean-Ken Johnny performs his rap in the verse sections, and when vocalist Tokyo Tanaka delivers his lead in the chorus you are sent to a Pop-Rock environment where Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden meets P.O.D’s Sonny Sandoval, because of Tanaka’s unique, deep tone that soars with the utmost resonance when hitting his higher register. Both a snare and a kick are hit on the beat at the same time to keep the tempo going and keep your head banging, and overdriven guitar riffs help to build up to the chorus sections, as well as a bizarre flanger effect on Tanaka’s vocal in the verses. Once that chorus kicks in you will definitely find yourself dancing around to a live Pop-Rock drum beat and distorted guitars that make you want to body bang instantly. “2045” is definitely a Rock track which Rough Online highly recommend you do not ignore.
