Jason Innocent’s form of art is Graffiti and his goal is to reduce the graphic sign to its essential nature and to its most basic form as well as maintaining its “innocent” existence. Innocent’s is the youngest and first African American artist to have two notable different subject works. Egomaniac Trump poster and 39 Drawings by Jason Innocent. Apart Jason has also worked with some creative head both in the fashion and music industry such Virgil Abloh (The Creative Director for Louis Vuitton Men's Division), Raf Simons (Creative Director of Calvin Klein) Kanye West, and A$AP Rocky.
Innocent succeeds in this attempt by conveying powerful messages against any sort of racism and inequality through the feeble voice of a child, and it is precisely in that simplification of shape that the strength of his fight springs into being. In his book
'39 Drawings'
which is certified as a platinum standard by Readers Favorite Jack Magnus and it is highly recommended by and must own for art lovers. The book is encapsulated with very rare drawings by Innocent as child.
With the election of Donald Trump in the States, there are definitely a lot of social claims to be addressed but yet I am not so sure this wouldn’t have been the case if Hillary Clinton would have gotten into power instead. Innocent, who is a true New Yorker of Haitian descent is clearly aware of the dysfunctionality of the American society, a society he lives and breaths live just like any other person, but now to think of a country like the United States of America which was once a superpower and even inherited the name 'The World Police' would find itself in this unfortunate socio-economic & political situation is mindblowing
Graffiti is the form of art that probably best suits a city like New York, and also the best way of talking about social issues in the urban space as in a similar way Frescos were the best medium for artists across Italy during the middle ages and renaissance: at the time churches were in fact constantly visited by citizens and inscribing messages on their walls was fundamental, but today, in this capitalistic and secularised world inhabited by alienated souls-ours- which place can best convey messages other than the walls of public toilets, tube stations and Trains that can carry the claims and statements across the city.
Jason Innocent seems to know it and also seems to know that this world needs more artists like him than politicians like Donald Trump.
