Rough Online love, love, love Habberdash for the pure and simple reason that they are bringing back a Rock sound that is bound to make most 80’s born musos’ nostalgic from the Sheffield-based band’s throwback Nu-Metal sound, as they promote their forthcoming debut E.P “Morning After The Madness” via the release of their recent singles “What Do We Know” and “Like A Lover.” We experience the darker side of Habberdash on “What Do We Know” because of its’ minor chord structure and heavy, distorted guitars effected with the perfect use of overdrive, while the drums rhythmically throw us back to the hook on Coldplay’s “Square One,” from their 2005 album “X&Y” and a crowd vocal enters the second half of each chorus reminiscent of the similarly loud and in-your-face 2003 Marilyn Manson single “This Is The New Shit,” including the right amount of delay on lead singer Kriss Stanton’s voice to keep that intense edge flowing right up until What Do We Know’s climatic finish. To add to this intensity, a flanger and distortion effect is added onto Kriss’s vocals in the Middle 8 section to give it that extra psychedelic, slightly robotic vibe leading up to the song’s “loud and proud” ending, as well as dramatic strings during the instrumental outro.

However, Habberdash’s best track to date is “Like A Lover,” which alongside Just Loud’s debut single “Electrified,” is one of the best Pop-Rock singles of 2018 so far, because of so many positively solid reasons. Band member Ashley Houldon’s chorus and reverb-effected lead guitar is too beautiful to ignore, that along with Hayden Marshall’s skilful bass playing and Andrew Holland’s up-tempo drums you find yourself instantly body banging around the room in Stadium Rock style to the memorable major chord structure, with the utmost happiness and a smile stretched from ear to ear. It is a song which uplifts you from the get-go with the most energetic Pop-Rock vibe you could possibly think of, while you are thrown back to the Emo vocals of Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump with the help of Kriss’s powerfully captivating, pitch-perfect voice, delivering one crazily catchy hook via the lyrics “tell her to her face that you love her, like a lover, fate won’t wait” reminiscent of Emo bands like Finch and Yellowcard, just to name a couple.

Habberdash have delivered the best introduction to a potentially huge career possible, especially by releasing Pop-Rock anthem of the year “Like A Lover,” one of Rough Online’s personal favourites from 2018 so far. It is a track for those who want to live forever, specifically as a youth in the mosh pit rocking out to catchy Alt-Rock, and there is no doubt that Habberdash are one of the best UK Rock bands currently on the music scene, so without hesitation, download and stream their new singles “Like A Lover” and “What Do We Know” now.
