Without sounding to narcissistic, ROUGH ONLINE only ever feature the best music acts, evidenced today with the likes of Adam Day AKA County Line Runner, who quite frankly is one of the best Rock acts we have discovered this year. Currently in the middle of recording his debut album in Liverpool, the UK, Runner has put a huge smile on our faces, stretched from ear to ear, with the release of his new single “Wide Eyes” a follow-up to the song “Hard To Find,” which on this occasion, from the very first second its’ beautiful, chorus-effected, reverb Electric guitar and up-tempo drums drop, throws you back to the noughties Alt-Rock, Punk-influenced music of Placebo’s 2000 single “Slave To The Wage” and at the same time you could easily find yourselves reminded of the captivating sound of one of Indie’s most worshipped bands The Killers.
Runner’s slick, killer vocals send you into the blissful state of Chris Isaak’s early Rockabilly career, as well as fuses the tones of both Robert Levon Been from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The National’s Matthew Berninger, and the result is delivered to perfection. A masterfully performed, dirty lead Bass riff ends the song nicely, finishing off one of the best singles of 2018, an overall production easily comparable to the sound of The Black Keys’ member Patrick Carney, specifically his work on Michelle Branch’s 2017 album “Hopeless Romantic.” What with Wide Eyes’ slightly Psychedelic Folk sound, it is no wonder that it was produced by ex-band member of The Coral, Bill Ryder-Jones, and after listening to Runner’s second single it would be no surprise if one of his musical heroes was the late Tom Petty. From everyone at ROUGH ONLINE…County Line Runner…thank you for the music. Download and stream “Wide Eyes” out now on all online stores.
