TJ
and John Osborne, the Brothers Osborne, have planted some strong musical roots with their latest musical offering Pushing Up Daisies (Love Alive). It's the honey sweet kind of midtempo heartland America track we hope to hear on the radio. And it serves up all kinds of soothing send-me-away vibes from the twang of the rhythm guitar to the funkiness of the drums. This one might be pushing up daisies but they're coming up in spades.
The sound is lathered in a southern drawl, a retro fusion with a hammond organ, and a vocal that is bittersweet. Not to mention, there's a guitar solo. We haven't heard a guitar solo in a hot minute. In fact, we were wondering what had happened to our favorite dance partner in the way of Les Paul guitar riffs and showboating. But lo and behold the Brothers Osborne have taken this lovely title to the next level. Here's a solo that makes all kinds of sense, builds an emotional bridge, and carries us out to the last waning stanzas.
But that's only the beginning. If you've been longing for some sweet honey musical cadences from some good ol' southern boys, don't fret. The Brothers Osborne are embarking on a UK and Ireland tour, filled to the gills with dates. May is the month to get front row and intimate with the duo. In the meantime you can hear Pushing Up Daisies (Love Alive) here first.
