All praises were sung and showered on French fashion designer
Jean Paul Gaultier
by Animal Rights Group as he joins fashion houses such as Versace, Vivienne Westwood, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney and Armani who have all announced their seizure in using real fur in the clothing line. This announcement made by Gaultier has been deemed by Animal campaign group PETA as a step in the right direction.
"This decision is a sign of the times. The vast majority of people want nothing to do with items that have come from animals who were caged and electrocuted or bludgeoned to death," says PETA international director Mimi Bekhechi.
The 66 years old French designer decision to stop using fur came as a result of the inhumane methods used in killing animals which he described in an interview as 'absolutely deplorable' and goes to state "Fur is more sensual than fake fur, but you can find other ways of staying warm."
