We’ve heard too much from the One Direction-type boy bands recently, so it’s refreshing to see a group of talented musicians give us something a little bit more edgy, with an unexpectedly American sound, as what with their deep vocal tones, heavy, mid-tempo drum programming and a rhythm, electric guitar in Up’s outro, reminiscent of the Neptunes’ overdrive riff performed in N.E.R.D’s “Lapdance,” I think it’s fair to say that The LaFontaines want to take us on a slightly different, fun ride in comparison to the rest of the Male Pop acts out there currently, and ROUGH ONLINE are up for joining them along for the ride. If you want to be reminded of when Rock and Rap music were fused together masterfully by The Roots on their critically acclaimed 2003 track “The Seed,” or N.E.R.D on the famous “She Wants To Move,” give The LaFontaines’ awesome new single “Up” a listen to.
