Royal Albert Hall, London last night ushered in 4,000 guests from the world of fashion, movers, and shakers in the fashion biz, aspiring fashion students and the general public or better still lovers of fashion around the globe. The evening was commemorated with 15 awards,10 of which were voted for by a panel of 2,000 key industry opinion formers and five Special Recognition Awards. Brand of the year was awarded to Gucci
and the Business Leader accolade was presented to Marco Bizzarri, the label's president and chief executive.
As the fashion awards on the night were to highlight British creative talent, one can say there were a quite number awards won from the Italian labels such as Miuccia Prada who was presented with the Outstanding Achievement award
and Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino being awarded the Designer of the year.
Virgil Abloh for Off-White won the Urban Luxe award,
Demma Gvasalia for Balenciaga took away Accessories Designer of the Year
and Parley for the Oceans was given the Special Recognition for Innovation.
With British designers winnings saw Craig Green presented with British Designer of the Year Menswear honour
and Kim Jones, the creative director of Dior menswear taking home the inaugural Trailblazer accolade for “his reputation for challenging the norms whilst respecting heritage, history, creativity, and innovation”.
Richard Quinn won the British Emerging Womenswear
and Samuel Ross for A -Cold-Wall for Emerging Talent Menswear of the Year.
Dame Vivienne Westwood
was honoured with the Swarovski Award for for Positive Change for her promotion of humanitarian and environmental issues
through both her eponymous label and her campaigning for charities for Cool Earth, Amnesty International, War Child, Friends of the Earth and the Environmental Justice Foundation.
The Isabella Award for Fashion Creator was picked up by photographer duo Mert and Marcus. To top it all of ROUGH's favorite model Kaia Gerber won Model of the Year.
