Swedish Synth-Pop duo Kastrup have released another great track from their E.P “In Search Of Us,” and ROUGH ONLINE are very impressed by its’ 21st century spin and undertone tribute to the New Romantics era of the 80’s on this captivating moment the Electro act have entitled “Joanna,” a character they both attempt to emotionally reach out to as they sing “Joanna walk with me and swear you’ll never go” with the softest, most gentle, soothing vocals you have heard from a male singer this year so far. “Joanna” stands out from the rest of their recent tracks, when you compare it to songs such as “Try It All,” and “Fake” which delivers fairly dark music production with its’ overuse use of minor chords, and industrial-sounding guitars. However, “Joanna” takes you on a magical ride of love-themed lyrics and a captivating atmosphere, created by the reverb and delay effects from “throwback” keyboard sounds reminiscent of German dance music producer Sash, which will relax up to its’ final, powerful chorus. Its’ finale will leave you with the most beautiful image of you and your lover in each other’s arms on a club dancefloor for sure, and their whispery vocals will make you lose any tension you had prior to listening to them sing.
“Joanna” has “hit” written all over it, especially with its’ catchy chorus, screaming out for airplay on popular music Radio stations. It is tracks like this that make you wonder if 80’s-style Synth Pop is making a huge comeback, to the extent that it would take over the charts with songs like this beautiful number. If you have never heard of Kastrup before, think Savage Garden meets Hurts, let that beautiful breeze of music into your environment, and their stadium-esque music production, delicate voices, and huge, live drums which kick in after the second chorus of “Joanna,” take over you.
