Within seconds of listening to their new single “Don’t Love Me Like That,” Schmieds Puls have effortlessly become one of ROUGH ONLINE’s favourite Austrian bands, throwing us right back to the pleasant Folk, Soft Pop-Rock sound of Six Pence None The Richer. Delivering a rich, Acoustic guitar Indie vibe which uses a simple yet effective chord structure,Schmieds Pulswouldn’t be the same without the tender, heartfelt vocals of lead singer Mira whose beautiful voice reminds us of Slow Moving Millie’s stunning tone and throws us back to an overall Eva Cassidy-esque realm, sending the listener into a blissful state all the way through to the song’s fade out. “Don’t Love Me Like That” is without a doubt a musically understated moment, and one that with its’ memorable chorus will stay in your mind’s eye long after the first listen.
Lines like “I might bite your head off, might bite your head off” follows the rhythm of the guitar and drums perfectly, so much its’ catchiness captivates you, and you will most definitely find yourself singing along to the hook “and I don’t need you to love me like that, don’t love me like that” in no time, due to its’ infectious melody which grabs you straight away after the chorus drops. The sound ofSchmieds Pulsis easily comparable to Gemma Hayes, specifically her more acoustic moments on songs like “Run For Miles” from her Mercury Music Prize-nominated 2002 album “Night On My Side” and for all the right reasons. Their new album “Manic Acid Love” was released last month on Play Dead Records via Rough Trade distribution, and has already received rave reviews from music critics, and after hearing their new single “Don’t Love Me Like That” ROUGH ONLINE quite naturally wanted to jump on that bandwagon.
