MALTA FASHION WEEK SPRING/SUMMER 2019

As the fashion week is finally at its tale, we take a look at one of the less talked about Fashion Weeks and one the caught our attention; the just concluded Mercedes Benz Malta Fashion Week. Malta is small, but, you should think of it as a precious pearl in a vast sea of sapphire. The island nation known as hermetic Mediterranean fantasy is a combination of Arab influence and profound Catholicism and has shown over time that they capable of producing designers who can rub shoulders with the counterpart out there. This year's event took place in Valletta European Capitals of Culture for 2018. Malta Fashion week was a color story that combined classicism with creative expression, it was a flawless harmony of fashion and culture and it was an opportunity for visitors to experience not just the beauty of the island nation thanks to the Malta Tourism board but also the beauty of the Maltese people and their hospitality. The event itself continued transition away from cyclical trends, combined with a strong focus on self-expression and more exuberant color mixes or playfulness and darkness.

ROSEMARIE ABELA.
A precious uniqueness, charismatic craftsmanship, minimalism, minimalism that unites each of her collection inspired by not just her environment but by the outside element and also by travels. The Malta base designers who have been well prepared through education and armed with her undeniable talent was among the brands who succeeded in creating some of the amazing collection at the event.

JASON GRECH:

Jason Grech from Australia is among the brands that lit up the show his distintive designs and meticulously put together collection was pleasing to behold.Jason Grech is one of the most highly recognised and awarded names in Australian couture fashion today. From beautiful brides to best-dressed celebrities, each JASONGRECH gown is meticulously created by hand to the impeccable standard. Jason is the world’s first fashion designer to partnerwith IBM for their Cognitive Couture collaboration and was the inaugural inductee to the Kangan Batman Fashion Hall of Fame where he is an alumnus.

RITIENNE ZAMMIT
She is known as one of Maltese promising designers, known for her ability to make statement not only with her designs but on the run way. The brand is not only known for strong political messages it is also known for precise tailoring, off beat construction details and the opportunity to wear a piece of history with each other her pieces.

CARLA GRIMA:
Carla Grima's vision is to capture nature’s luxury. Inspired by organic silhouettes and the colours of the Mediterranean, natural fabrics are transformed into unique pieces to treasure for spring, summer, sea and sunset. Crafted through a combination of watercolour techniques, photography and textile printing, each garment is the collaboration of human hands, nature and machine. High-quality silk and cotton fibres allow skin to breathe, creating minimal shapes for summer lovers.
