Cats, huh? Funny animal. You either love those fur (or should we say – purr) balls whole heartedly, or you strongly hate them. What is about those graceful, independent, spiritual animals that draws such a strong reaction from people? There seem to be no middle ground here. Well, if you tend to be on the wrong side of cats, you better have a change of heart stat, because it seems your little furry BFF is about to become your stylish accessory yet. At least, according to Givenchy's Artistic Director, Clare Waight Keller.

Waight Keller– previously at the helm of Chloe –  was appointed last March as the first female creative director of Givenchy. Perhaps that says something about the fashion house's approach to femininity. Felines are considered a distinct feminine animal throughout history. Not that Givenchy ever had an issue with femininity...

With her first campaign entitled Transformation Seduction shot by Steven Meisel, Waight Keller has decided to hop on the witchy mystical– and oh-so-sexy trend and accessorize her half nude models Elias Bouremah and Kolton Bowen and Saffron Vadher and Meghan Roche, with the best accessory ever – a familiar. Yes, yes, a cat! Shot in black and white, with an artistic paly of light and shadow and a clever composition, the pictures create a strong sense of mystery and an aura of supernatural vibe. The teaser campaign imagery was introduced with a Hubert de Givenchy quote about his vision of the woman he designed for. "She has an extraordinary flair for looking dressed with practically nothing. She knows how to look in a mirror, pose, and make whatever she is wearing chic. And since simplicity is the only thing she likes, she is always faultlessly elegant." Enchanting!

Choosing to present bond female models is a "preview" to what is to come in Paris Fashion Week in the f/W2018 show. Waight Keller will be presenting her first men's collection alongside the women's collections, embracing the co-ed runway.

And in case you were wondering about the feline addition - Waight-Keller decided that the graceful creatures are to accompany her first collection after she found a silk print of a cat with th male aorange eyes from 1953 in the Givenchy archive created by the master himself. "I love the idea of a woman with a feline air, a person may seem slightly reserved, but they have that serene, straightforward gaze. They're seductive. You want to meet them, know more about them, and be like them."

You obviously can buy what the lacy tops and tuxedo slacks the models are wearing, but you cannot buy the cats. Though their Givenchy collars are indeed for sale, if you want to treat your little furry friend to a nice cat present...
