Everything By Electricity Releases New Single "Place To Call My Own"

ROUGH ONLINE has been sent into a hypnotic state by the captivating production of Yulia Bizyukova, one of the trio Everything By Electricity, on their new track “Place To Call My Own.” Barring the “galloping” drum section, Yulia produced all instrumental elements of the new song for the trio in her home studio, based in London, with an obvious intention to take the listener on a trippy experience into the domain of pure 80’s influenced “New Romantics meets New Wave,” with the use of enormous reverb on both the vocal and synths that throw us right back to when bands like The Human League, Ultravox with “Vienna” and 10CC with “I’m Not In Love” were taking over the charts with  their intentionally meditative sound. Vocally in the vein of Pet Shop Boys’ lead singer Neil Tennant, you could easily place the production of the vocal performance next to Air’s 1998 hit “Sexy Boy,” simply because like Chillout acts Moby and Bonobo, its’ soft, tender tone is there to relax you into utopia, while its’ Gary Numan-esque keyboards keep your mind awake enough to pay attention to its’ unexpected, climatic build-up toward a finale containing all the reverb in the world. It is a magical explosion that takes you away from all sense of reality, but more specifically, takes you away from both the current mainstream and indie sounds we hear daily.

Although ROUGH ONLINE is hooked with how well Everything By Electricity have captured the sound of throwback songs we still hear on Heart 106.2 today, it leaves us with the question “was this the trio’s intention?” Or was it their intention to send us on that spiritual plane away from things real and disturbing, with its’ clever choice of stunning synths, steady tempo and clean acoustic guitars, reminiscent of an 80’s Stevie Nicks music production. Recently there has been a wave of Dream Pop acts like Cigarettes After Sex who have dominated the Indie charts with their ethereal sound, so it’s fair to say that Everything By Electricity have come at just the right time, and ROUGH are anticipating more great tracks from the trio very soon.
