By teaming up with experimental Urban band Dirty Heads to remix their Reggae-influenced, Tropical House-esque track “Visions,” Dan The Automator has proved once again after a critically acclaimed career as a well-renowned Hip-Hop producer that he can easily take a piece of music and throw it in a completely different direction to its’ original studio version, and on this occasion we find the man behind the production of Gorillaz’ famous 2001 debut album experimenting with strong Trip-Hop vibes. In ROUGH Online’s view, “Visions” was already one of 2018’s catchiest tracks, and Dan The Automator has come along and taken Dirty Heads’ single in a slightly underground, Alt-Electro direction with the use of a filter on lead singer Jared Watson’s vocals, heavy drum kits, alongside piano chords which are specifically panned to the right, while an acoustic rhythm guitar is panned to the left, overall ensuring that Automator’s remix will most certainly be both trippy and infectious.
However, despite Automator’s unusual stamp on the Dirty Heads’ single, it still remains in a slightly radio-friendly realm, via the trumpets which fade in and our during the remix’s finale which provides a more brighter feel and heads more towards the sound of Moby as opposed to Diplo. And trust us…Dan The Automator’s remix of “Visions” is bound to appear on your Spotify – Chillout playlist very soon without a doubt.
