CLUB DRIVE Release Brand New Single 'WDYD'

UK’s Hertfordshire as of recently have a new 3-piece Pop band breaking out onto the music scene with a Funky-guitar driven, summer track entitled “WDYD,” Club Drive’s new single from their upcoming debut record. It’s when the Electro Beat drops in the chorus, after ass-shaking percussion in the bridge leading up to WDYD’s catchy hook, that with its’ Synth Pop vibe and similar rhythm throws you back to the 80’s, specifically Martin Gaye’s 1982 smash hit “Sexual Healing.” But it is the Bass that due to its’ masterfully EQ’d production which you feel in the pit of your stomach, is enough to make you dance your arse off the way Club Drive wanted you to, while lead singer Aaron sings the lyrics “so what do you do on the day to day, sit, stop, wait up, just to get paid,” with slick vocals, similar to 2012 X-Factor winner James Arthur when singing in his lower register, via one superb, catchy melody.

Lyrically “WDYD” speaks out to people who live a “groundhog day” routine, to not abide by the expected 9 to 5 tradition if they’re not happy doing so, and if they have aspirations outside of their boring, complacent daily life that they should quite simply start pursuing them, a sentiment which, being a creative hard-working team ourselves, Rough Online applaud wholeheartedly. No one can deny the tightness of this new boy band, notably for Tommy’s masterful guitar skills, and the overall throwback R&B Pop sound of “WDYD” which guaranteed you will have playing in your car on repeat before the summer ends. It is one of this year’s most memorable Indie Pop songs so far, mainly due to the song’s catchy chorus and Christian’s skilful drum playing, reminiscent of Haim’s distinctive Electro Rock style.
