Lo-Fi Rock has not sounded this great since Frankie Cosmos’ 1996 album “Next Thing,” all thanks to singer and songwriter Anna Pancaldi’s new single “Peace,” which with her “talky,” confident Rock N’ Roll singing in the verses throws us back to the “free and fun” vibes of Sheryl Crow’s 1994 Country Pop single “All I Wanna Do” whist reminding us of the slightly rough yet emotional voice of Sophie B. Hawkins. The delay effect used on Anna’s vocal, along with her slick playing on a distorted, electric guitar, allows anticipation for a Heavy Rock extravaganza, especially after the “tongue-in-cheek” verse sections. However, the song unexpectedly and cleverly leads you into an ear-pleasing, emotional world of Soft Rock via the use of a gorgeous, heartfelt vocal performance, leaving Rough Online breathless and wanting to hear more from the talented Indie Rock artist.
The 4 by 4 Room Kit drums and tambourine percussion keep the up-tempo vibe of the song moving nicely, underneath the Suzzane Vega-influenced vocals of Pancaldi, who Rough Online has decided is definitely a solo version of Kings Of Leon when they deliver more melancholic Alt-Rock tracks. It is no wonder that Pancaldi has been working with the likes of producers such as Matt Ingram since he has previously worked with other Alternative music acts like Florence and the Machine, and considering Anna’s growth and development since her 2017 E.P “Sweet Charity” we are only expecting more great songs from this multi-talented musician. Anna Pancaldi’s new single “Peace” is out now on download and streaming from all online stores.
