Sports brand NIKE
is under fire as their stores in South Africa have been closed down temporarily due to public outcry regarding a racist comment made by a man who has ties with the company. Nike has stated it has no connection with the man in the video as far as being an employee was concerned. The video that has caused this unfortunate issue is about a white South African man with a South African accent using the word 'Kaffir'
which is similar to the 'N'
word. It is known that the said man is not employed by the sports brand Nike but according to sources, he is married to a Merchandising Director of Nike. So far some South African news outlet has not been able to verify the man's identity.
The Economic Freedom Fighters Group who are known to stand for no nonsense when it comes to anything racism connected to any fashion companies. Let's not forget that it is same Africa's far left nationalist party group that led a campaign against H&M after the fashion label post an image on their e-commerce of black kid wearing a T-shirt that said 'COOLEST MONKEY I THE JUNGLE.' With that said, the Group has said they will be filing a criminal complaint against the man.
